Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of Hayatt Habba (Mackay).

Hayatt was born in Baghdad, Iraq on May 1,1926 and passed away on November 12, 2020. Hayatt was preceded in death by her husband, Fethalla Habba, her parents Mikha Mackay and Amina Abdal, as well as her children Kemal (Hakima) and Rosemary. She is survived by her children: Mary Garmo (late Dari), Angel Carlin (Rolin), Jemal (Judy), Romel (Helen), Margaret, and Anwaar Mio (Moaid). She leaves behind 18 grandchildren: Doreen Shlemon (Moayed), Sandra Milardo, Derek Garmo (Julie), Michael J., Michael K., Tracey Dunham (Christopher), Edward, Susan, Christopher Garmo (Diana), David, Carolyn, Mary Rose Gebara (Rani), Brandon Garmo (Ashley), Esther Cureton, Ryan Wardia (Heather), Alexander Wardia, Marcel and Kameron Mio. 25 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she deeply loved.

Hayatt traveled to America in 1953 with four young children at the age of 27 to reunite with her husband who had left for America in 1947 to make a better life for their family. Once they were settled, they had four additional children. She led a full life filled with happiness and challenges, but her unwavering spirit and strong faith in God always helped her find ways to persevere. She was the greatest inspiration and role model for everyone in her family. She was truly a beautiful angel on Earth who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the family apologize for not receiving guests at their home or gathering in any public halls. The family will receive condolences via phone calls, social media, emails, and text messages.

Church Services:
An in state viewing service will be tomorrow at Mother of God Church from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. Saturday November 14, 2020.
Resurrection Mass will be celebrated following the viewing services at 10:00 am.
