Obituary for Emad Boutros Salmu

What heights of love,
What depths of peace
When fears are stilled
When strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

Emad Boutros Salmu passed away on Tuesday January 19, 2021. He was the son of the late Boutros
Salmu and Najiba (Habboo) Salmu. He was preceded in death by his brothers Nuri Salmu, Hikmat Salmu,
and Natiq Salmu. Surviving are Nooria (Salmu) Mansour, Amal (Salmu) Bakayou, Samir Salmu and Haifa
(Salmu) Kaskorkis. He was also survived by his nephews and nieces.
Emad was a retired line worker at Chrysler. He worked the first shift for 35 years, waking up at 4:30AM
every morning in a true-blue collar environment.
He had a gentle demeanor and a benevolent nature to his personality. He loved sports of all kinds,
especially horse racing, football, basketball and hockey. He was also very fond of Tiger baseball during
the 80’s. He loved playing “penny poker” with his friends, and he had the ability to make people laugh.
Everyone enjoyed his company.
Above anything else in the world, his passion was his family. His unselfish acts, and never-ending
generosity endeared him to everyone he met, as well as those he loved. He watched over and supported
his sisters, as if it was his duty. He was the definition of a loving brother. His nieces and nephews were
especially close to Emad. Not having children himself, he treated them as if they were the center of his
universe. As his nieces and nephews had children of their own, their kids gravitated towards Emad’s
loving attention.
We were given so much by a man who truly put himself second to those he loved. The phrases of “Heart
of Gold” and “He will give you the shirt off his back” were phrases he acted out in life. We cannot
express how much we will miss him and most of all, how much we appreciate everything he did.

We cannot express how proud we are to be his siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews,
cousins, and friends. Being so close to Emad, fills our hearts with love and encourages us to be self-less
during our paths in life. On behalf of his siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews,
cousins, and friends; we would like to thank you for your condolences.
“Thank you God for Emad!”
